DEPARTED

Cynthia Chipman born Sept. 21st. 1832 at Louis burg Ohio, Departed this life Nov. 24 1924, age 92 years 2 months and 3 days.

At the age of six years, moved to Bristol, Ind., where she grew to womanhood, having no older brother she assisted her father in his woolen mill until his death.

She was married in 1848, to C. S. Payne of Ohio, to this union was born 8 children, four boys and four girls of which only two are still living, Hiram Payne of Kaw City, Okla., and Mrs. Maggie Wilson of this place, it was with her the [sic] she made her home for some 20 years, except while visiting the other children.

Mother Payne was a good christian woman her mother before her was a very consecrated christian woman and taught the right life by her deeds and action the same is true of the one just departed, she lived the life worth while always giving good advice and living up to the same.

Just a few hours before death came she told friends and relatives just how she wanted to be dressed and put away and that she was ready to go.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Kerr of Licking, at the Boone Creek Church, the subject used for the service was "Mother". We extend our sympathy to the benefit family and may mother Paynes life be as a star that will guide many to the _old of God.

W. M. Kerr.

In loving memory our late friend, Mrs. Payne.

Tis sad to part with mother,
with sister, wife and daughter;

But Oh! how sweet to know that some day
we can meet, upon the golden street;

What rejoicing ther'll be,
When in Heaven we shall meet;

Ther'll be no more sad parting,
No more sorrow ther'll be;

When we in Heaven meet, His Gift;

God thought to give the sweetest thing,
In his Almighty power;

To earth and deeply pondering
What it should be one hour;

In fondest joy and love of heart,
Outweighing every other;

He moved the gate of Heaven apart,
And gave to Earth, A 'Mother".
