Louisa Roseltha Walton Neal

Louisa R. Walton Neal daughter of David & Anna Walton was born near Licking, MO., April 24, 1857 and passed away in Houston, MO., December 27, 1949 at the age of 92 years, eight months & 3 days.

She was united in marriage to William Henderson Neal, December 2, 1875 and to this union 10 children were born.

She accepted Christ in her early life & united with the Missionary Baptist Church, at Liberty, Mo. and was baptized by the late Rev. John Hicks. And to this faith she was loyal & true.

Her devoted companion passed away October 1, 1915.

In spite of hardships which all the women of that era endured, her life was beautiful & serene. She was content to be the queen of the home. She had all the attributes of a good wife & mother. She was a person of superior intelligence, kept herself up to date on current affairs. She lived thru our wars. While very small during the Civil War, she could tell many of the happenings in this section.

It was a matter of great pride that she was entitled to so many stars in her window, those of a son & several grandsons.

She liked to commune with God every day. It strengthened one's faith to hear her pray. When her eyes became too dim to read her Bible she would sit in her little rocker & sing the Gospel hymns, giving a heart throb to those who listened.

Finally she was very tired & went peacefully to sleep. She was taken to her old home church where her funeral was conducted by Rev. J.R. Halbrook. Songs were sung by Mrs. Oscar Colllins, Mr. & Mrs. Raymond Duff & Mrs. Earl Burnett.

Pallbearers were Grandsons: Carmel Stites, Neal Rice, Billy Duff, Harmon Rice, Don Garrison, Maurice Rice.
