C. L. Johnson

Clinton Luther Johnson, 86, who was one of Texas county's most widely known residents, died in his sleep Monday morning at his home here. Mr. Johnson's life had been a busy one. He had held several public offices. He taught school for several years and in 1894 he entered the grocery business in Houston with Henry Britton. In 1896 and 1898 he was elected county treasurer. He served two terms as presiding judge of the county court and two terms as probate judge. Mr. Johnson also had served as a deputy in various offices.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Maude McAnelly of Tulsa and Mildred Gilbert of the home who has cared for him for several months. 

Mr. Johnson had been a member of the Baptist Church since 1906 and was a member of the I. O. O. F.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist Church.
